Techniques for High Water and Big Bugs

Weather has been dynamic of late…wind, clouds, thunder and heat….all adds some spiciness to our fishing of late. As our NRS pro friend Elaine would say….”The weather has been sporty!”

Here are some techniques for fishing during this time. REMEMBER»»»»»»»»The water is high is most places so if you are going to walk and wade…..wear a pfd, use a wading staff, and use your head«««««<

  1. TRY fishing big dries close to the banks. Try this technique in early morning as well as late evening.

  2. If it’s cloudy, that is going to extend your change at dry flies so keep those dries on and work the banks and seams!

  3. If it’s hot/bringht/middle of the day….put on a dry/dropper or use an indicator and get after it with some weighter nymphs.

Be safe out there, and have fun!

FYI we are running a public Intro To Fly Fishing Workshop on July 25th, 9am to 12:30. 225.00 per person, all gear included!
