Fishing Report

Fishing has been tempramental, just like the flows. Here on the upper Yakima, the river is at 2700, which makes for some difficult wading and fishing conditions. Look for the edges of the eddy’s and outside bends. It’s a definite nymph rig type of start to our days, with an eye on the weather…throwing yellow sallies and pmd’s during cloud cover times has been working great! Dry Dropper rigs are working but not as lights out yet.

In terms of floating and wading…..the mainstem below State, on the Yakima RIver, is open and clear at present. The state take out be bumping due to higher flows, so if you are not a seasoned rower, exercise caution and consider another stretch.

If you are going to wade, take a look at softer water and side channels…up around Easton down is fishing well and wading there has been easier at it is sitting at 262 cfs. Burt for most other places, a drift boat, raft or personal water craft is the safest way until flows drop.
